A simple yet very profound statement—Be the Light. You may be asking yourself, “In what context?” How can I be the Light when there is so much turmoil going on in the world right now?
My first response would be, “quit trying” and simply be. Remember all separation is an illusion and only unity is real. There is no “there” to get to, we are already here. We know that to be true, when we pause and check-in with our heart. Unfortunately most of us live in our minds— the home of duality.
In the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu reminds us:
Seeing into darkness is clarity.
Knowing how to yield is strength,
Use your own light
and return to the source of light.
This is called practicing eternity.
Seeking into darkness is clarity … the void … the emptiness… the primordial energy … where all things exist. The only way to see in the dark is shine a light on it. Shine your light from within so others may sense your peace. Radiate your internal light.
Knowing how to yield is strength … Do you want to be right? Or do you want to be happy? Yield to the truth of others, even if you do not agree, we all have our own unique paths to live this lifetime. All roads lead to truth.
Use your own light and return to the source of light … everything begins within. Remember, when we only use our mind, we see duality of darkness—using our heart we feel the unity, and can expand our light.
This is called practicing eternity … remember it’s practice. When you again look outside into the world and see darkness, look within, and connect with your breath. Give yourself time to allow the chatter of the mind to quiet down, it will not completely stop, but I promise the spaces between the thoughts will grow and you will feel peace.
When you notice silence within your day, I invite you not to seek stimulation. Instead observe the silence—take a few moments and feel … BE [Breathe & Expand] THE LIGHT.
