Rooted Not Rushing

The Wisdom of the Pause

We gathered—nine beautiful souls—for our spring Women’s Qigong Retreat, centered around the theme: rooted, not rushing.

Each day, we practiced Qigong, moving gently into our bodies and breath. We immersed ourselves in sound baths and sonic meditation, allowing the nervous system to soften… and truly feel the pause.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, we came together in sacred circle. Seated side by side, we shared from the heart—reflecting on questions like:
Where am I rushing?
Is it a habit, or was it something I was taught?
What am I afraid of if I slow down?
When have I ignored my inner knowing? When have I trusted it?

What unfolded in those circles was powerful. Together, we remembered that being rooted is not rebellion—it is remembering. Remembering who we are beneath the conditioning, beneath the pace, beneath the noise.

Again and again, a simple truth revealed itself: we are far more the same than we are different.

There is something deeply sacred about women gathering to simply be—to speak truth, to be witnessed, and to listen without fixing or rushing one another. We shared stories, we laughed, and we cried. And in that space, something softened… something returned.

At one point, I offered the analogy of driving as a reflection of how we move through life. We can sit in the back seat, watching it all pass by in a blur. Or we can take the driver’s seat—choosing our direction, our pace, our presence. And the truth is, we all move between these roles. Sometimes we are driving, and sometimes we are passengers. The awareness is what brings us back to choice.

When we were younger, we looked to others to guide us—trusting they “knew better.” But now, as grown women, we are being invited into something deeper: to trust our own inner knowing. To remember—we know what is best for us.

Before we closed, each woman reflected on one simple, intentional step she could take when returning home… a way to live “rooted, not rushing.” For some, it was five minutes of conscious breathing. For others, a long bath, quiet walks in nature, journaling, or reading. And for some, it was something even more foundational— discovering what truly brings them joy, something they hadn’t given themselves time to explore.

We also acknowledged something important: This constant “go, go, go” is not our fault. We were conditioned into it—especially as women, taught to put our needs last. But now, we have a choice. When we tend to ourselves first—when we create peace within—we are actually more resourced, more present, and more able to care for those we love. This is how cycles begin to shift.

And perhaps this is the real practice… not rushing back into life, but returning to it—rooted.

Reflections from the Weekend

“I truly enjoyed this retreat. I felt so much love and peace among the group of women. The sound baths and Qigong were amazing and allowed me to really get grounded. I left feeling deeply connected to my inner peace and serenity.”
~ Kristi

“Through this retreat and the practice of Qigong, a profound clarity unfolded around the work I feel called to offer and the space I hope to hold for others. In the stillness of being rooted within, that vision came into focus. I’m deeply grateful for the presence, wisdom, and environment that supported this unfolding.”
All my love ~ Leslie

“Everyone was incredibly welcoming. I quickly found that because we are all on a similar journey, it felt like I knew everyone a little bit. By the end, each of us had discovered something new about ourselves or understood ourselves more deeply. The food and accommodations were amazing.”
~ Monica
